Hiding Main Page

Nayem	Hi, My site is still under construction so my main page I would like to change it to a under construction page but remain the header and footer. I tried creating a page and some content and edit the settings to load a static page for homepage but it didn't work like how normal wp themes work. Can you assist me a lil here?

Clement	Then header and footer will also be gone right? Actually I wanted to do something like http://www.11street.my Splash page of coming soon while remaining the header and footer etc… just body changed.
